Reliable digital connectivity remains out of reach for many communities across Africa, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Aktivco’s InfraCo business models help close this gap by financing, deploying and operating sustainable telecom network infrastructure for mobile operators.
Aktivco has secured an additional €105 million in financing, extending its track record of assembling complex with a multi-source capital structure at scale. This new financing builds on continued support from its international DFI partners Proparco, Norfund, Facility for Energy Inclusion (FEI), and Cygnum Capital, alongside new partnerships with local banking institutions SCB Cameroun, BICEC, BMOI and BRED Madagasikara Banque Populaire. The financing will support the continued expansion of Aktivco’s ESCO and TWESCO business models, enabling the financing, deployment and long-term management of a growing portfolio of telecom infrastructure assets.
Aktivco’s evolving financing mechanisms reinforce its ability to offer operators an infrastructure approach that reduces upfront investment requirements, improves network performance and delivers greater cost efficiency and visibility over time. By taking on the financing and long-term management of network assets, Aktivco enables operators channel their capital and resources toward what matters most, expanding their digital services and making reliable connectivity in rural and underserved areas more economically viable.
Commenting on this milestone for Aktivco’s InfraCo business, Richard Thomas, Group Chairman and CEO of Camusat, said: “This approach reflects an evolving model for digital infrastructure investment, bringing together international green finance and local commercial banking to support deployment where it is most needed. By combining these two sources of capital, we strengthen our ability to finance the infrastructure that closes the digital divide, while turning local financial ecosystems into active partners in developing their own countries’ critical infrastructure. By enabling clean and reliable connectivity in underserved areas, we can help expand access to essential services, support local businesses and job creation, and contribute to the digital sovereignty of the economies we serve.”
