Job Purpose
- The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Officer is responsible for ensuring that an organization's operations and activities comply with environmental regulations and laws, as well as promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with company, customer, and legal requirements, as well as industry standards
- Identify potential environmental, health, and safety hazards within the workplace and conduct risk assessments to evaluate and mitigate risks.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide EHS training and education to employees and management to increase awareness and understanding of EHS policies and procedures.
- Supervise environmental initiatives, such as waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability efforts, to minimize the organization’s environmental impact.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to ensure compliance and prepare reports for management, customer and regulatory authorities.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, warehouse, and human resources, to integrate EHS practices into daily operations.
- Supervise EHS requirements for contractors and vendors working on-site to ensure their compliance with EHS requirements.
- Maintain safety programs, including emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and safety drills.
- Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and changes in regulations to ensure the organization’s EHS programs remain current and effective.
- Continuously monitor EHS performance, analyze trends, and implement improvements to enhance the overall safety and environmental performance of the organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Science or an Occupational Safety and Health relevant course from a reputable institution. Competency in MS Office Applications. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. At least 2 years of relevant experience in telecommunication sector.
